Wythenshawe Dental Clinic

2-Year Composite Bonding Warranty Terms

Your New Smile, With Extra Reassurance

We want you to feel confident in your new smile.

Composite bonding completed as part of our £1,999 Composite Bonding Offer comes with a 2-year limited warranty, starting from the date your composite bonding treatment is completed.

Composite bonding is a dental restoration and, like natural teeth, requires appropriate care and maintenance. Our warranty is designed to give you additional reassurance should an unexpected problem occur.

What's Covered?

If, during the 2-year warranty period, your composite bonding:

  • Chips or fractures during normal everyday eating and chewing
  • Debonds from the natural tooth without trauma or excessive force
  • Experiences another premature material failure which would not reasonably be expected with normal use

please contact us and we will arrange an assessment.

Where the issue is confirmed as being covered by the warranty, Wythenshawe Dental Clinic will repair or replace the affected composite bonding at no additional clinical charge.

The most appropriate treatment will be decided following clinical assessment by one of our dentists.

Where a repair is clinically appropriate, we may repair the affected area rather than replace the entire restoration.

The warranty applies to the individual tooth or teeth affected and does not automatically entitle the patient to replacement of all composite bonding.

Keeping Your 2-Year Warranty Valid

Regular professional maintenance is an important part of looking after composite bonding.

To maintain your 2-year warranty, you are required to attend a:

6-Monthly Composite Bonding Maintenance Appointment – £100

This appointment allows us to monitor your bonding, maintain its appearance and identify small problems before they become more significant.

Your maintenance appointment will normally include:

  • Review of your composite bonding
  • Assessment of the bonded teeth
  • Bite and bonding checks
  • Professional polishing
  • Assessment of any chips, wear or concerns
  • Minor maintenance or repairs where clinically appropriate and covered by your warranty
  • Advice on maintaining your composite bonding

These appointments are required approximately 6, 12 and 18 months after completion of treatment.

The maintenance appointment costs £100 per visit and is not included within the original £1,999 treatment fee.

Attendance at these 6-monthly maintenance appointments is a condition of maintaining your 2-year composite bonding warranty.

Failure to attend the required maintenance appointments may affect warranty cover, particularly where lack of maintenance or monitoring has contributed to the problem.

You must also:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene
  • Attend routine dental examinations and hygiene appointments as recommended
  • Follow all aftercare instructions provided by your dentist
  • Avoid habits which may damage your bonding
  • Wear a nightguard if one has been recommended
  • Contact the clinic promptly if you notice any damage, chipping or concerns

What's Not Covered?

Composite bonding is strong but is not indestructible.

The warranty does not normally cover problems caused by or associated with the following.

Accidents or Trauma

Including:

  • Falls
  • Sporting injuries
  • Blows to the mouth
  • Accidental impact
  • Other forms of trauma

Excessive Force

Including biting:

  • Particularly hard foods
  • Ice
  • Pens
  • Fingernails
  • Packaging
  • Bottle tops
  • Other non-food objects

Grinding or Clenching

Grinding and clenching can place significantly increased forces on composite bonding.

Where your dentist identifies grinding, clenching or another bite-related risk, a protective nightguard may be recommended.

If a nightguard has been recommended as necessary to protect your bonding, failure to wear it as instructed may affect warranty claims relating to chipping, fracture or excessive wear.

Poor Oral Hygiene or Dental Disease

The warranty does not cover problems caused by or associated with:

  • Dental decay
  • Gum disease
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Infection
  • Problems affecting the underlying natural tooth

Problems With the Natural Tooth

The warranty relates to the composite bonding restoration and does not guarantee the long-term health of the natural tooth underneath it.

The warranty does not automatically cover:

  • Fracture of the natural tooth
  • Dental decay
  • Root canal problems
  • Infection
  • Gum or periodontal problems
  • Other biological complications

Any treatment required for these conditions may be charged separately.

Treatment Carried Out Elsewhere

The warranty may no longer apply where the composite bonding has subsequently been:

  • Adjusted
  • Repaired
  • Polished
  • Removed
  • Added to
  • Altered

by another dental provider without prior agreement from Wythenshawe Dental Clinic.

Wythenshawe Dental Clinic will not normally reimburse treatment or repairs carried out by another dental provider unless this has been agreed with the clinic in writing beforehand.

Normal Wear and Maintenance

Composite resin naturally changes over time.

The warranty does not cover normal:

  • Gradual wear
  • Minor surface changes
  • Loss of polish
  • General maintenance requirements

Staining and Colour Changes

Composite bonding can gradually stain or change in appearance depending on factors including:

  • Diet
  • Tea and coffee
  • Smoking
  • Vaping
  • Oral hygiene
  • Lifestyle
  • Natural ageing of the material

Normal staining and gradual colour changes are therefore not considered a failure of the composite bonding.

Regular maintenance and polishing appointments are designed to help maintain the appearance of the bonding.

Tooth Whitening

Composite bonding does not whiten in the same way as natural teeth.

If natural teeth change colour following whitening, this may create a difference between the shade of the natural teeth and the existing composite bonding.

Shade differences caused by subsequent whitening or changes in the natural teeth are not covered by the warranty.

Changes to Your Bite or Tooth Position

The warranty does not normally cover problems resulting from significant changes to your bite or tooth position after treatment, including those associated with:

  • Orthodontic treatment
  • Aligner treatment
  • Tooth movement
  • Tooth loss
  • New dental restorations
  • Other subsequent dental treatment

Changes of Mind or Cosmetic Preferences

Your dentist will involve you in choosing and approving the appearance of your composite bonding during treatment.

The warranty is intended to cover qualifying problems with the composite restorations.

It does not cover a later change in cosmetic preference where there is no defect or failure in the treatment.

For example, deciding at a later date that you would prefer your bonding to be:

  • Longer or shorter
  • Rounder or squarer
  • A different shape
  • A different shade
  • Designed differently

would not ordinarily constitute a warranty claim.

We would be happy to discuss any cosmetic changes you would like, and any associated costs would be explained before further treatment is carried out.

If You Notice a Problem

If you experience a problem with your composite bonding:

  1. Contact Wythenshawe Dental Clinic as soon as reasonably possible.
  2. We will arrange an assessment of the affected tooth or teeth.
  3. One of our dentists will assess the bonding and the likely cause of the problem.
  4. We will confirm whether the problem falls within the warranty.

Where the problem is covered, we will provide the clinically appropriate repair or replacement of the affected bonding without an additional clinical charge.

Where the problem falls outside the warranty, we will explain why and discuss the available options with you.

Any treatment and associated costs will be explained before you decide whether you would like to proceed.

An assessment is required before any warranty repair or replacement can be authorised.

Warranty Repairs

Warranty treatment is provided by Wythenshawe Dental Clinic.

A valid warranty claim does not automatically entitle the patient to full replacement of the composite restoration or replacement of all composite bonding.

The treatment provided will be based on what the treating dentist considers clinically appropriate.

This may include:

  • Polishing
  • Minor repair
  • Addition of composite
  • Repair of the affected restoration
  • Replacement of the affected restoration where clinically necessary

Warranty treatment will normally be limited to the tooth or teeth affected.

Important Information About Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental restoration and cannot be expected to last indefinitely.

Its appearance and longevity can vary from person to person and may be influenced by:

  • Your bite
  • Grinding or clenching
  • Diet
  • Oral hygiene
  • Smoking or vaping
  • Lifestyle
  • The condition of your natural teeth
  • How well the bonding is maintained

Regular maintenance helps us keep your bonding looking its best and gives us an opportunity to identify developing problems early.

£1,999 Composite Bonding Offer

The £1,999 promotional offer is subject to clinical assessment and suitability for composite bonding.

Not every patient or every tooth will necessarily be suitable for treatment.

Your dentist will assess your oral health, bite, teeth and treatment goals before confirming whether composite bonding is appropriate.

Existing dental problems may need to be treated before cosmetic treatment can begin.

Any additional treatment required will be discussed with you, including any associated costs, before proceeding.

The required £100 six-monthly Composite Bonding Maintenance Appointments are separate from and are not included within the £1,999 promotional treatment fee.

Your Legal Rights

This 2-year warranty provides additional reassurance alongside your normal rights as a patient.

Nothing within these warranty terms is intended to exclude, restrict or reduce any statutory rights or remedies which cannot legally be excluded or limited.

The warranty does not affect your right to raise a concern or make a complaint through Wythenshawe Dental Clinic's usual complaints procedure.
